$400,000 – Slip-and-Fall

A man mistakenly entered the wrong department store on a rainy day, so he decided to exit. As he left the store, he stepped on a piece of cardboard which had been taped to a ramp at the store’s exit. The cardboard was placed to act as a mat. Our client fell on the cardboard injuring his knee. The defendants argued that there was never a cardboard on the ramp on date of the accident and that our client had fallen inside of the store and not on the exit ramp. They alleged that our client should have seen and avoided the cardboard and the he should have been more careful if there really was cardboard on the ramp. Despite all of these factors, this case was settled for $400,000.
