$1,250,000 – Slip-and-Fall on Ice

Posted in and tagged by Kenneth A. Wilhelm, Esq.

A man slipped on ice and fell on church premises.  He sustained no fractures. The case settled for $1,250,000. Churches are very difficult entities to sue because everyone loves a church. Also, we handled this case in a county that was notorious for low settlements and verdicts, which made it an even more difficult case, yet we were still able to recover this amount for the injured person.
This case was settled in 1995. Because the value of the US dollar has changed over time, the above amount would be about twice as much today as it was back then.
