Our client’s ankle was injured and we took a verdict that found the other side was 100% at fault.  We contended that the elevator maintenance company was negligent in proper inspection, maintenance and repair of the elevator in question. As a result, the elevator fell 4 floors injuring our client’s ankle, requiring surgery. Our client suffered a fractured ankle requiring open reduction and internal fixation, which had to be followed up with another surgery to remove the plates and screws. The case settled for a total payout of $2,600,000 with a present value of $1,750,000.  In addition, we got the workers’ compensation insurance company to pay a $150,000 lump sum for future medical benefits.
