Stagehands Injured in Accident Involving Mechanical Lift

Two stagehands sustained injuries in an accident that involved a mechanical lift. According to The New York Post, the accident occurred backstage at the fifth-floor of the Rose Theater inside the Time Warner Center. The man and woman involved in the mechanical lift accident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and have been listed in stable condition. It is unclear at this time what may have caused the accident, how it could have been prevented, or if the two employees were properly trained to use the Genie Lift.
Aerial lifts and mechanical lifts can result in serious injury accidents and electrocution incidents. Between the years 1992 and 1999, 31 construction workers were killed in aerial lift accidents involving boom supported lifts and scissor lifts. Mechanical and aerial lift accidents may involve the worker falling from the device, the lift coming into contact with a power line or the lift collapsing or tipping over.
Injured victims of on-the-job accidents may seek financial compensation through workers compensation benefits. A successful workers compensation application should result in support for medical bills and time away from work. There are some accidents, such as those involving defective products that may result in additional compensation through civil litigation. If a lift accident was caused by a product defect, then, the manufacturer of the defective product can also be held liable.
