Two drivers sustained injuries after a car accident in Queens the afternoon of Dec. 24. According to an ABC7 news report, the collision between two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Peck Avenue and Utopia Parkway in Fresh Meadows. ABC reports that a 20-year-old man is in serious condition and a 72-year-old woman sustained critical injuries in this crash. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital.
The report also states that surveillance video captured the moment the car driven by the man T-boned the vehicle driven by the woman. Police suspect the male driver might have been speeding at the time of the collision. Residents in the area also told ABC7 that the intersection where this collision occurred is notorious for speeding drivers as many attempt to cross Utopia Parkway, which is an extremely busy street. Neighbors say there is a need for a traffic light at that intersection. Currently, traffic on Peck is required to stop at stop signs.
