15 People Injured in Chain Reaction Crash Involving MTA Bus

MTA bus accident attorneyAt least 15 people were injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into a minivan in Brooklyn, triggering a chain reaction collision that also involved an MTA bus. According to a report in the New York Post, police said a 60-year-old man driving an SUV south on Pennsylvania Avenue the afternoon of Feb. 27 struck a minivan carrying four people while trying to turn left on Livonia Avenue. He then crashed into a parked car before his SUV was sideswiped by an MTA B20 bus going north on Pennsylvania, officials said.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene, but was apprehended by police a few blocks away. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Ten people on the bus, including the bus driver, were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. The four occupants of the minivan including a 3-year-old boy were also taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. The investigation into this crash is ongoing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who were injured in this car accident.

Steps to Take If You’ve Been Injured in a New York DUI Crash

If you have been injured in a DUI crash in New York, it is essential to take several steps to protect your rights and seek compensation for your injuries.

  • Seek medical attention: Seek medical attention immediately, even if you don’t think your injuries are severe. Some injuries, such as whiplash or internal injuries, may not be immediately apparent but can worsen over time if left untreated. Getting prompt medical attention not only helps put accident victims on the road to recovery, but also creates a record of the treatment they received and the medical expenses they incurred as a result of the accident.
  • Report the accident: Contact law enforcement to report the accident. The police will investigate the scene, document evidence, and create an official report. Be sure to provide accurate information about the circumstances of the crash, including any suspicions of the other driver being under the influence.
  • Gather information: Collect as much information as possible at the scene of the accident. This includes the other driver’s contact information, insurance details, license plate number, and the names and contact information of any witnesses. Take photos of the accident scene, vehicle damage, and your injuries if possible.
  • Document your damages: Keep thorough records of all expenses and losses related to the accident, including medical bills, receipts, invoices, and documentation of any missed work or reduced earning capacity due to your injuries.
