Elderly Man Seriously Injured in Long Island Bicycle Accident

Edward Gallagher, 77, of Wading River, was severely injured in a Long Island bicycle accident after he was struck by a vehicle the afternoon of May 13. According to a report on Riverheadlocal.com, the collision occurred on Route 25A in Wading River between East Wind Drive and Hulse Landing Road. Responding officers determined that a vehicle that was traveling west on Route 25A hit the bicyclist who was going in the same direction.

Gallagher sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was interviewed by police. The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation.
