Three New York City bicyclists were killed in three separate crashes over the last week. According to Streetsblog.org, the latest victim was Mamadou Diallo who was struck by a vehicle in Brooklyn as he was trying to turn south onto E. 54th Street from Avenue I the night of Aug. 20. The driver collided with Diallo head on sending the victim flying into a nearby parked car, police said. The driver of the car fled the scene. This was the third fatal bicycle accident involving a hit-and-run driver in as many days, the report stated.
On August 18, 29-year-old Paulina Tec Choc, 29, was hit by a pickup truck at Jamaica Avenue and Cypress Hill Street in Brooklyn. Police said the westbound driver struck Choc from behind and then ran her over. They then fled the scene. That night another hit-and-run driver allegedly ran a red light in the Bronx and killed 51-year-old bicyclist, Angelo Camera. The same driver then struck another car injuring that driver as well. All investigations are ongoing, and police have not yet located any of the alleged hit-and-run drivers behind these fatal crashes, Streetsblog reported.
