New Yorker Killed Rollover Accident

A 54-year-old man was killed in a New York car accident involving a rollover. According to WWNY, the fatal car accident occurred on County Route 47 in Norfolk. The Norwood man was ejected from his vehicle after it crossed the center median and rolled over. He was pronounced dead shortly after the crash, in a nearby hospital. Investigators are not sure why he lost control of his vehicle or what caused the rollover.
The family of a victim killed in a single vehicle crash would be well advised to preserve the damaged vehicle for a thorough investigation. A review of the crash site could prove if a dangerous roadway caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. An investigation of the vehicle can also help determine if a defective auto part contributed to the injuries that were sustained in the accident. For example, if a driver was ejected from a vehicle during a crash, it is important to look into whether a defective seatbelt or seat restraint system was a factor.
Rollover accidents also occur due to defective vehicle designs. Some vehicles such as SUVs and pickups are prone to these types of crashes because they have a high center of gravity and narrower track width. If the vehicle’s design or an auto product defect caused or contributed to a car accident, then, the auto maker or the manufacturer of the defective product can be held liable as well.
The family of a deceased victim of a New York car accident may pursue financial compensation for their losses. Compensation may be sought through the victim’s insurance policy or by filing a wrongful death case against the at-fault party – be it a governmental agency that failed to properly maintain a roadway, or an auto maker who put a defective vehicle in the market.
