Other common causes of construction accidents include electrocutions, struck-by incidents and caught in/between incidents.
Common Causes of Falls at Construction Sites
Some of the most common causes of falls at construction sites include:
• Slippery surfaces
• Scaffolding accident – improperly assembled or defective scaffold
• Lack of fall safety devices
• Absence or lack of supervision
• Lack of proper job or safety training
• Hazards on the property
Compensation for Injured Workers
When a construction worker is injured on the job, he can seek workers’ compensation benefits for medical expenses and a portion of lost wages. In addition, injured workers can file a “third-party” claim against a party other than the employer, who may have caused or contributed to the incident, for significant money damages. Examples of third parties include general contractors, sub-contractors, property owners, manufacturers of defective products, etc.
